Non inclusive socio-professional programs
On November 17th 2025, the Quebec Intellectual Disability Society (QIDS) filed a motion for authorization to institute a class action against the Attorney General of Quebec and Santé Québec. You will find SDQI’s special communication here.
The class action seeks to recognize and put an end to the injustices experienced by people with intellectual disabilities, autism spectrum disorder and other disabilities in the context of certain socio-professional programs — including sheltered workshops (known as atelier de travail or plateaux de travail in Quebec) and unpaid internships — and to compensate them for these injustices.
Criteria to be met
You could be part of the class action if:
– You are a person with a disability, and
– You were a participant in a sheltered workshop (atelier de travail), work platform (plateau de travail), and/or individual internship (stage individuel) under the authority of, supervised by, or supported by the Ministère de la Santé et des Services sociaux and/or Santé Québec since November 17th 2022.
More information regarding the litigation will be made available over the course of the following months from the QIDS and on our website. For the moment, no hearing date has been set on the application for authorization of the class action.
