A settlement agreement has been reached between the plaintiff, Jean-François Paris, and the defendants for a total sum of $ 850,000. The indemnities of class members will be determined in proportion to their losses and will depend on the number of members who claim.
TJL will ask the court to approve their fees of 20% of the settlement plus tax ($ 195,457.50), plus legal fees and administrative expenses of $ 20,000, to be paid out of $ 850,000.
The agreement, the protocol providing for the distribution of indemnities and TJL’s fees must be approved by a judge of the Superior Court. You can contest their approval by sending us your reasons for contesting by e-mail, fax or registered mail before January 21, 2019. The contestations will be forwarded to the judge and you can present your contestation before the judge during the hearing.
TJL will submit the agreement, protocol and legal fees to Judge Mongeon of the Superior Court on January 29, 2019, at 9:30 am in Room 16.02 of the Montreal Courthouse. You can come to the hearing if you wish to.
