On March 11, 2026, the plaintiff filed an Application for authorization to institute a class action against the Little Franciscans of Mary, the Roman Catholic Bishop of Chicoutimi and the Roman Catholic Episcopal Corporation of Chicoutimi.
The class action seeks to compensate every person who was victim of sexual, physical and/or psychological abuses at the Immaculate Orphanage of Chicoutimi between 1931 and 1968 inclusively.

Every person who suffered sexual, physical or psychological abuse while attending the Immaculate Orphanage of Chicoutimi between 1931 and 1968 inclusively.
Excluded from the Class are, however, persons who provided a release under the National Reconciliation Program for Duplessis Orphans who attended certain institutions.
