A New Class Action has been filed: Discriminatory practices and abuses against Indigenous people by SQ officers in Val-d’Or

Today, December 14, 2021, the Val-d’Or Native Friendship Centre, represented by Trudel Johnston & Lespérance, filed an application for authorization to institute a class action against the Attorney General of Quebec.

The Attorney General of Quebec is sued in its capacity as representative of the Minister of Public Safety, under whose authority the Sureté du Québec acts.

The class action is brought on behalf of all Indigenous persons who allege to have been victims of discriminatory practices and abuse by one or more officers of the Sureté du Québec in the Val-d’Or region.
